First Time Cruises
How to Get Married on a Cruise Vacation
When I went on my first
cruise, lots of questions
came to mind! How big
is the bathroom? What's
a muster drill? What
information is in the
daily newsletter? How
does the cabin steward
know when I'm not in
the cabin to clean it? I
have not figured that
last one out yet but I'm
working on it! I hope
these pictures will help
you envision your first
cruising experience.

Understand that most weddings
on board cruise ships actually
take place in port, whether it's at
the place of departure or
somewhere along the way during
your trip.
Decide if you want to be married
on the ship itself or if you prefer
to exchange your vows on a
beach or an island location.
Obtain a marriage license for the
location where the ship will be
docked for your marriage. Ask
your Travel Agent at Cruising
Weddings for tips on how to do
this.
Realize that it's possible to be
married at sea if you have your
heart set on it. Princess and
Celebrity cruise lines offers this
option. Or you can have a Vow
Renewal At Sea by the Captain.
Take into account that if you get
married at sea on Princess Cruise
Line, your wedding license will be
from Bermuda, since this is where
Princess is registered.
Consider the range of wedding
options that exist: from a
$500.00 package that includes a
notary, witnesses, cake and
champagne to a package that
costs $75.00 per person for each
guest to provide an open bar and
buffet. All cruise lines use a 3rd
party company called "The
Wedding Experience" to plan your
wedding. We can also assist you
with using a private wedding
planner.
Remember that you arrange for
flowers, music, and a
photographer as part of your
wedding package. Talk to the
ship's wedding consultant to
explain you preferences.
Look around. This website has
packages and pricing on all major
cruise lines. Offering a variety of
options.
Book your cruise well in advance.
Many ships are already booked
for the next 8 to 12 months.
Wedding Insurance is always
recommended (this is separate
from cruise insurance).
Ask one of our travel agents to
recommend a cruise line that will
meet your needs.

Every cruise line has
a daily newsletter
Muster Drills, take place
before the ship departs.
